What is Information Literacy?

Information literacy is "the ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand." (National Forum on Information Literacy)

Richland College recognizes information literacy as an essential outcome of general education.  All Richland Institutional/General Eduation Student Learning Outcomes, including "Evaluate information effectively" are accessed using the General Education Student Learning Outcomes Rubrics.

The Information Literacy Certificate also promotes Learning Power, the skills and traits needed for life-long learning and Richland College's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).

    Badge Enrollment

In order to complete any of the Information Literacy badges, you must enroll in the Information Literacy eCampus Organization.

Fall 2014 registration is open until December 4, 2014.
